Lost plates
We thought we were the dummies from the South losing our front numberplate in one of the many water crossings we've done in our ute but this wall at El Questro shows we're not alone. What seems to happen is the bow wave created by the front of the vehicle causes an upward force just in front of the bull bar. If your number plate is only affixed by 2 fasteners at the top edge, the hydrodynamic force pushes the bottom of the plate up and it breaks off at the top fasteners. If anyone can explain the forces please chime in! Some plates (like ours) remain lost but the workshop wall at El Questro shows the many that were found. Top Tip - fasten your front plate top AND bottom
